Anna Montanaro (Carate Brianza, 1981) è un'artista contemporanea che trasforma memoria, tempo e corpo in materia visiva. Attraverso fotografia, collage, stampa e pittura esplora l'effimero dell'esistenza e le metamorfosi del ricordo, dando forma a stratificazioni che restituiscono la complessità dell'esperienza umana.
Cresciuta in una famiglia legata al mondo tipografico, sviluppa una sensibilità per ripetizione e serialità come dispositivi del tempo. Nei suoi lavori, la reiterazione non è solo ritmo ma traccia: ciò che insiste è ciò che il ricordo non riesce a trattenere del tutto. I collage fotografici, stampati su tela e rielaborati con pittura e resine, collocano l'immagine in uno stato di sospensione tra emersione e dissolvenza, presenza e perdita.
Nulla è pienamente visibile, nulla è definitivamente assente.
La sua pratica si muove tra aggiunta e sottrazione come in un'indagine archeologica del ricordo: il passato non viene semplicemente evocato, ma riattivato come materia instabile. Le resine cristallizzano l'immagine e al tempo stesso la imprigionano, restituendo una forma di vanitas contemporanea, sospesa tra permanenza e dissolvimento.
Diplomata in Restauro presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, ha collaborato alla didattica del restauro di dipinti antichi. Ha partecipato a numerose mostre e rassegne internazionali, tra cui Florence Biennale, Triennale delle Arti Visive, OSTEN Biennial of Drawing e Premio Arte Cairo Editore. Ha ricevuto riconoscimenti tra cui il Diploma d'Onore al Premio Arte Cairo Editore, la vittoria alla OSTEN Biennial of Drawing, alla Biennale di Sondrio e il Premio Ricoh, a conferma della continuità e coerenza della sua ricerca nel panorama europeo. È stata segnalata da critici come Giorgio Gregorio Grasso, Carlo Franza e Stefania Pieralice ed è presente nel Catalogo dell'Arte Moderna n. 61, a cura di Elena Pontiggia (Giorgio Mondadori).
Le sue opere non illustrano il tempo: lo mettono in tensione.
Ogni immagine è una soglia instabile, ogni frammento una possibilità di ritorno che non coincide mai con ciò che è stato. Ogni frammento non conserva: ricomincia.

Anna Montanaro (Carate Brianza, 1981) is a contemporary artist who transforms memory, time, and the body into visual matter. Through photography, collage, printmaking, and painting, she explores the ephemerality of existence and the metamorphoses of memory, shaping layered works that reflect the complexity of human experience.
Raised in a family connected to the world of printmaking, she developed a sensitivity to repetition and seriality as temporal devices. In her works, repetition is not merely rhythm but trace: what persists is what memory fails to fully retain.
Her photographic collages, printed on canvas and reworked with paint and resin, place the image in a suspended state between emergence and dissolution, presence and loss.
Nothing is fully visible, nothing is definitively absent.
Her practice moves between addition and subtraction, like an archaeological investigation of memory: the past is not simply evoked, but reactivated as unstable matter. Resin crystallizes the image while simultaneously imprisoning it, producing a contemporary form of vanitas, suspended between permanence and dissolution.
She graduated in Conservation and Restoration from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where she also collaborated in the teaching of the restoration of ancient paintings. She has participated in numerous international exhibitions and art fairs, including the Florence Biennale, the Triennale of Visual Arts, the OSTEN Biennial of Drawing, and the Premio Arte Cairo Editore.
Her awards include the Diploma of Honor at the Premio Arte Cairo Editore, the OSTEN Biennial of Drawing award, the Biennale of Sondrio award, and the Ricoh Prize, confirming the coherence and continuity of her research within the European art scene.
