Ego, Ecstasy & Passion

fragments of a body in dissolution

The eternal movement of Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women, where form never settles, but winds itself into space like a tense prayer.

In that impossible torsion, the body no longer belongs to a single meaning: it is capture, escape, desire, and resistance all at once. The ego tries to define itself, ecstasy unravels it, passion crosses it like a current that asks no permission.

What remains is not the scene, but its vibration: a suspended instant in which flesh becomes emotional architecture. Each figure is simultaneously dominance and loss, balance and surrender.

And in that spiral — which still inhabits The Rape of the Sabine Women in Piazza della Signoria like an unresolved knot at the heart of stone — the human body is no longer narrated: it is consumed, revealed, transformed.
